The doctoral thesis of Dr. Emre Akdoğan, supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ceren Vardar Acar of our department, has received the 2024–2025 academic year METU Graduate Thesis Award.
The thesis, "Joint Distributions of the Maximum Drawdown and Maximum Drawup in Lévy Processes", derives the joint probability distributions of the maximum drawdown and maximum drawup amounts under a Lévy process framework — the first time these joint distributions have been studied under a Lévy process model. Establishing the relationship between the two variables through joint distributions enables the estimation of one given the other.
